British Artist Alexandria Coe and Portugal based Interior Curator & Designer, Jade from escolhido, have recently collaborated to create a set of limited edition hand painted tile coasters, handmade sustainably by artisans in the home of tile making using recycled clay. Inspired by the tiles, mainly in blue and white 'azulejos' which are commonly found in Portugal, adorning the exterior of restaurants, churches, homes and fountains.

  • Sustainability is always at the forefront of our design decisions so we decided to use recycled clay that has been left over from other collections.

  • The tiles are 14cm x 14cm

  • This collection is ideal for adding a ray of sunshine to any tablescape or as coasters. They can also be used amongst your wall tiles to add artistic detail.

  • Due to the handmade elements of the product, we recommend washing by hand only.

Please note, the sets in this limited edition collection are not exactly the same due to the designs being hand painted so please select your design carefully.

A Portuguese Love Affair

The church, as across a lot of Europe, has always had an historical influence, so this modern day interpretation of Adam and Eve felt a suitable motif. Painted in blue and white, the colours of the Atlantic ocean and the sky on a sunny day.

“Working with Portuguese artisans to create sustainable art is really important to me as a designer. Keeping the inspiring local traditional methods alive and intertwining them with modern design is key for the future of art and interiors."

"After a recent trip I felt inspired to create my own, something that reflects the growing modernisation of Portugal and the country's traditional heritage.”
